Richeranches: (4 km) Pretty small village. Former regional headquarters and depot of the Knights Templars. Good restaurant.
Grignan: (3km) Big chateau. Cathedral (a bit disappointing). Very pretty town to wander around. Restaurants. Boutique type shopping.
La Garde Adhemar: (10km) Pretty hilltop village. Interesting Romanesque church. Simple but nice restaurant on main square. Val des Nymphs nearby: charming ruined Romanesque chapel and spring and good picnic place on weekdays.
Rochemaure: (30km) Huge castle (mostlyC13-14) climbing up hill above the village.
Viviers: (25km) Small town, pretty. Interesting Cathedral. River frontage. Restaurants.
Villedieu: (15km) Small fortified village. Good bar in main square.
Venterol: (12km) Hilltop village. Nice bar on main square. Good simple restaurant (when open – is a bit erratic).
Seguret: ( 20km) Very pretty hillside village. Restaurants. Good wines.
Gigondas: (25km) Small pretty village. Excellent cave. Very good wines.
Taulignan: (10km) Nice walled village. Simple restaurant. Nearby ruins of the Abbey of Aleyrac good for a picnic (care re drop into space in nave if you have young children).
Allan: (25km) Ruined and deserted village. Marvellous for children over 8 to explore.
Barry: (25km) Deserted Troglodyte village. Also great for children to explore.
Nyons: (14km) Good markets Thurs and Sun mornings. Nice arcaded square. Famous for olive oil (pricey). Good restaurants.
Uzes: (50km) The gem of small towns around but just over an hour away). Beautiful arcaded squares, chateau.
St Restitut: (30km) Nice village, Romanesque church. Good bar. Pleasant restaurant.
Suze la Rousse: (20km) Fine chateaux, impressive C14 -15 exterior, but much better courtyard. If any concert in the chateau while you are here don’t miss it.
Rosans: (35km) Hilltop village. Good (Romanesque nave) Abbey ruins at St Andre de Rosans nearby. Stunning drive north up to Pommerol and La Charce in the hills.
