Leclerc’s in Valreas is the biggest local supermarket, with almost anything you could reasonably want and an especially good fish counter. Intermarche in Valreas is open Sunday mornings. Geant in Montelimar is even bigger and has a good wine section.
Markets are an integral part of the Provencal local culture and are excellent for people watching as well as shopping.
Grillon, Sat a.m. very small and frankly unimpressive.
Nyons: Thursday and Sunday mornings. Get there early to get best value clothes, foods, almost everything, not to mention the olives.
Vaison la Romaine. The biggest of the local markets. Tuesday mornings. Sunday mornings in Aug
Valreas. Wednesday mornings.
The village square at Grillon has a simple but adequate bar, restaurant and pizzeria. There are excellent restaurants in Grignan, Valreas, Roaix (Michelin*), Valence (Michelin***). We give a list of recommended eating places to all our guests, which we try to keep as up to date as possible. Most villages have bistrots trading under the umbrella of Bistrot de Pays. Most are adequate, some are very good.
